James Forrest “Pepper” Martin was born 14 May 1925 in the Gourdneck community near McCrory, AR the son of Ben and Opal Inez Nelson Martin. He attended school in McCrory and married Lorrine Florence Jacobs 3 October 1943. He was a veteran of World War II and had one brother, Billy. Pepper loved to fish, hunt and followed the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. The family shared that he was named “Pepper” for a famous St. Louis Cardinal baseball player. He had one son, Dennis Ray.
James Forrest Martin died 23 January 2002 and was buried in Woodsman Cemetery in McCrory.
